UPDATE (July 2, 2025): Cognito Systems, a contractor for the Army’s H2F program, has shared the following information with us: “We received written confirmation yesterday that the Army has reversed its previous decision and will be retaining athletic trainers under the H2F program. This means the program will no longer end on Sept. 18, 2025. As a result, Cognito Systems will be keeping all 180 athletic trainer positions and will immediately resume hiring to fill any open roles.” Thank you to the thousands of you who sent letters to Congress, made phone calls and signed the petition. Over the past couple of months, NATA teamed up with several athletic trainers and met with dozens of legislative offices. Our collective voice made a difference. We are encouraged by this policy reversal, but our work is far from over. We will continue our advocacy efforts and keep you posted on any additional developments.
UPDATE (Apri 23, 2025): More than 13,500 emails have been sent to Congress – thank you! Haven’t sent yours yet? There’s still time. Next up, sign the petition. Our team and ATs will hand-deliver it to lawmakers next week. Let’s keep the pressure on!
We were recently made aware that the U.S. Army plans to eliminate athletic training jobs from its H2F program, even though there are plans to expand the initiative. This will impact hundreds of athletic trainers across the country who have been a critical component of the program’s success. We are asking U.S. senators and representatives to support athletic trainers and implore the U.S. Army to keep athletic trainers as part of the H2F program.
Visit the landing page where templates are provided to help you contact your U.S. senator and representative. Once you have acted, share the link to the landing page on your social media and with your friends, family and colleagues so they can reach out to their elected officials as well. We need as many people as possible to contact their U.S. senator and representative on this critical issue.
Thank you in advance for advocating on behalf of the athletic training profession.
Sincerely,
NATA Government Affairs Department
