In honor of Pride Month, throughout June, NATA Now is highlighting members of the NATA LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee and their impact on the profession.


NATA LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee District Two Rep. Keir Livingston, MS, LAT, ATC, first encountered the athletic training profession thanks to a family friend who was studying an athletic training program in college.

Empathetic Care Unveiled

In honor of Pride Month, throughout June, NATA Now is highlighting members of the NATA LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee and their impact on the profession.


As a first-hand recipient of an athletic trainer’s care, Kristy Walker, MS, LAT, ATC, experienced the compassionate treatment on which the profession is built.

Walker said during her tenure as a collegiate student athlete, she decided to pursue sports medicine, having received such quality of care.

Enhancing Representation in Athletic Training

In honor of Pride Month, throughout June, NATA Now is highlighting members of the NATA LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee and their impact on the profession.

 

Evan Bader, MAT, AT, ATC, aspired to become an athletic trainer having been its beneficiary as a student athlete.

“As an athlete growing up, I had my fair share of injuries and was exposed to the field of athletic training,” Bader said.

Inclusive Medicine and Service

The opportunity to serve an excellence-driven collegiate patient population is what inspired Tina Tubbs, MS, ATC, CES, to pursue athletic training.

As she entered the profession, Tubbs said this enthusiasm propelled her to bring her best self every day to help her patients achieve their goals.

A dancer for 15 years, Gray Badger, CPT, was injured many times, especially while attending a performing arts secondary school.

Badger’s injuries didn’t stop them from completing their high school dance career, thanks to their athletic trainer.
