Important NATA 2020 Convention Update

April 30, 2020 by Beth Sitzler

For 70 years, the NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo has offered continuing education by the best and brightest in our field; facilitated networking between athletic trainers from all around the globe; and celebrated athletic training leaders who have exuded a lifelong commitment to our profession through the national honors and awards ceremony.

Over the past few months, we have extensively monitored and analyzed the evolving reality and impact of COVID-19, working with the City of Atlanta and our event partners to explore the most optimal solutions given the unprecedented circumstances. At the center of all discussions and decisions have been the overall safety and well-being of all involved – our members, staff, exhibitors, sponsors and vendor partners.

After thoughtful and data-driven deliberations, the NATA Board of Directors voted unanimously that we will not hold the in-person 71st NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo June 17-20 in Atlanta. We can appreciate that this is disappointing news to the thousands of attendees who make our in-person event special every year. We fully anticipate returning to an in-person schedule with NATA 2021, June 29-July 2, 2021, in Orlando, Florida.

In addition, it is with excitement and optimism that the board of directors would also like to announce that NATA will host a virtual format of the NATA 2020 convention this summer. While nothing can replace the in-person event, we are confident in the amazing program and surprises that our leaders and staff have in store for this virtual experience. The virtual convention will capture many of the esteemed experiences of our in-person event: EBP and category A continuing education and professional development, networking opportunities and the chance to explore the latest in product and service innovation through a virtual AT Expo. The official dates and details for the 2020 NATA Virtual Convention will be announced as soon as possible, along with registration information.

NATA will post a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to address questions you may have related to this news and where you can submit questions. The FAQs page will be updated as answers to your questions are available. We ask for your patience as we develop this exciting opportunity.

Thank you all for your dedication to our convention and NATA. We look forward to seeing each of you online at the 2020 NATA Virtual Convention (#VNATA2020).
