Bio: 
Dr. Paul Saluan is an orthopedic surgeon in Cleveland, Ohio and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Cleveland Clinic and Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation. He received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years.
Abstract: 

Given the recent cultural shift in pediatric and adolescent sports we now seeing an evolution in the treatment of controversial pediatric injuries such as ACL's, OCD's and Concussions. This shift has also shed light on the need for collaborative research regarding overuse injury, as well as the need for unified medical programs that focus on parents, coaches, and institutions.

Clinical Objectives: 

At the conclusion of this presentation, the learner will be able to:

Participants will be able to weigh the impact of sports on school-aged individuals and society.
Participants will be able to compare several controversial pediatric sports injuries (ACL, OCD, and Concussions).
Participants will be able to identify several cultural issues contributing to the evolution of pediatric and adolescent sports.
Participants will be able to recognize AOSSM's "Sports Trauma and Overuse Prevention" program.
Participants will be able to consider "Be Like Coach" program as a case study on culture change.
