Presenter:
Reid Anthony Fisher ED.D, ATC, LAT
Bio:
Dr. Fisher maintains the position of associate professor at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. Having provided medical care for everyone from middle school students in central TN to college students in Quincy, MA and back to Chattanooga for professional women’s football, Reid has learned from the trenches to develop financial impact statements reflective of outcomes-based patient care. That expertise has been put to the test over the past three years as he has functioned as co-principle investigator on a grant to demonstrate proof-of-concept impact assessment for athletic trainer integration with US Air Force Basic Military Training. The demonstration of $1.5 million annual cost avoidance has come from identifying population needs and creating interventions to mitigate risk factors. The USAF will be expanding athletic trainer hiring from the two grant-funded positions to 31 across seven squadrons. Dr. Fisher completed his doctoral studies in learning and leadership at the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga with principle foci in program evaluation. Reid completed his master’s degree in Health and Human Performance at UT-Chattanooga as well. His bachelor’s degree comes from Southwestern University in the great state of Texas. Research pursuits have followed personal passions in running gait influence on injury incidence and, more pertinent to this discussion, integrating treatment documentation with prevention development to maximize patient and organizational outcomes. His wife and kids keep him humble as does his national ranking in the sport of triathlon.
