DALLAS, March 22, 2012 –The National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) today provided an overview of guidelines for emergency planning in athletics. The guidelines are designed to provide physicians, athletic trainers, coaches, athletic staff, school administrators, institutional and organizational safety personnel and parents with recommendations for managing medical emergencies at all levels of athletics. March is National Athletic Training Month. NATA’s theme this year is “Athletic Trainers Save Lives.”

DALLAS, March 20, 2012 – In a continued effort to reduce the incidence of exertional heat illness among young athletes, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association announced today that Georgia is the latest state to adopt recommendations from the NATA-spearheaded Inter-Association Task Force on Preseason Heat-Acclimatization Guidelines for Secondary School Athletics. In just the past year, Connecticut, New Jersey, Texas and North Carolina have followed this trend.

WASHINGTON, D.C., December 6, 2011 –The ongoing incidence of youth sports injuries and the risk of chronic or catastrophic injury has highlighted an urgent need for immediate and improved health care on the playing field. Supported by 65 sports and health organizations, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) today hosted the third annual Youth Sports Safety Summit at the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, D.C. DALLAS, August 2, 2011 – Today Rep. Edolphus “Ed” Towns (N.Y.-10) introduced the Athletic Trainers’ Equal Access to Medicare Act of 2011 (ATEAM) (HR 2785) into the U.S. House of Representatives.
