Building a More Accessible Profession

After the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law July 26, 1990, Disability Pride Month was created to commemorate this landmark law prohibiting discrimination against people with disabilities and ensuring accessibility in public life. In honor of Disability Pride Month, which features the theme “The World Works Better With Us” this year, NATA Now is highlighting members of the NATA Accessibility Panel throughout July.

‘Physician Extender’ Will No Longer be Used to Identify ATs

The NATA Board of Directors in January unanimously approved the request of the NATA Committee on Practice Advancement and the NATA Terminology Workgroup to gradually eliminate the term “physician extender” to describe athletic trainers working in the physician practice setting.

The NATA Professional Education Committee is producing a video series to recognize and share innovative teaching and learning ideas by academic professionals in the field of athletic training through the distribution of pedagogical tips that can be used to enhance the teaching, learning and assessment environment.
