The NATA Government Affairs Committee (GAC) third annual Fall Webinar Series will take place at 10 a.m. CDT Sept. 14, 2 p.m. CDT Oct. 12 and 6 p.m. CDT Nov. 16.
GAC Chair Anna Sedory, MS, LAT, ATC, said that although past Fall Webinar Series have focused on COVID-19-related issues, this year’s series will entail an eclectic mix of topics.
The November and December NATA News highlight NATA’s many advocacy efforts, including the work being done to increase the public’s understanding of the athletic training profession through media relations and strategic partnerships.
The efforts to increase professional recognition of athletic training services by insurance companies for reimbursement are ongoing, and NATA’s Third Party Reimbursement Initiative (TPRI) works continuously to build awareness, especially at the state level.
The NATA Political Action Committee (NATAPAC) is the sole federal PAC founded for and dedicated to being the voice and advocate of the athletic training profession.
Over the past year, NATAPAC had 932 contributors raise $41,500 between Nov. 1, 2020, and Oct. 31, 2021. View a full list of those 2020-21 donors.

Representation of athletic trainers as health care providers in legislation takes a lot of work, and it can’t be done alone. At the state level, updates to practice acts or regulatory laws limiting who ATs can treat can have a big impact on athletic training representation at the federal level, as well.
NATA is a featured partner in the 2021 Health Professions Week (HPW), Nov. 4-11. As the biggest career event for health professions, HPW brings together various health profession organizations to promote health care careers to high school students, college students, career changers, parents, advisors and counselors. HPW is an eight-day, one-stop shop of events to explore more than 20 career options.
