ATs Affected by Hurricanes

August 29, 2017 by Todd Christman

On behalf of the ATs Care CISM peer-support team, I want to reach out to those of you dealing with the ongoing effects of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma to express our concerns for your safety and to let you know that the athletic training community has you in our thoughts and prayers. We understand that looking at email and thinking about more than what you need to do to get through today are most likely not on your priority list.

As the days pass and you move forward many things will affect your thoughts and emotions. I want to remind you that the ATs Care team is here if you would like to talk to someone with CISM training who understands you as an athletic trainer. There is wide variety of possible emotional responses to experiencing natural disasters that are dependent on the events that directly affected you. Team members can help you put things into perspective.

If you would like to talk with an ATs Care team member and/or get more information, please contact Katie Scott, MS, ATC, at the NATA office (972-532-8821) or at ATsCare@nata.org.

Be safe,
David A. Middlemas, EdD., ATC, CCISM
Chair, ATs Care Committee
