With staff members experienced in all aspects of the legislative process, the NATA Government Affairs Department is the sole department focused on advocacy for the profession. NATA’s goal is to ensure that all ATs can work to the fullest extent of their education and skill set.

Job Shadow Day at NATA

It’s been a fun day at the office today! We just said goodbye to 22 fun and energetic 8th graders who visited our office as part of the NATA Job Shadow Day tradition. The students from Zan Wesley Holmes, Jr. Middle School in Dallas came to our NATA headquarters to learn more about athletic training and working for associations.

2014 Youth Sports Safety Summit Recap

Last week (April 10-11) we hosted our 5th Annual Youth Sports Safety Summit in Washington, D.C. As founding members of the Youth Sports Safety Alliance, NATA hosts this summit for other Alliance members  and ATs each year as a way to have quality dialogue on the current issues and trends related to youth sports safety. Since its inception in 2011, the Alliance has grown to include more than 140 organizations.

NATA's AT-in-Residence Reflects on First Hill Day Experience

Since trading in a spot on the sidelines as a "traditional" AT for a cubicle at the national office in Dallas, Michelle Vryhof, MA, ATC, has continued to keep busy, from compiling research and assisting with event planning to offering her fresh perspective on NATA initiatives and events. This past weekend, Michelle joined staff, ATs and AT students for Capitol  HIll Day and the Youth Sports Safety Summit, where she participated in lobbying efforts and met with fellow Alliance members in Washington, D.C. Service & Soccer: AT Goes International for Service Project

A team of 25 college athletes built schools, competed against foreign teams and raised awareness about athletic training during their spring break while many other college students partied on the beach or slept off mid-term exams.
