NATA Statement on Racial Injustice

The past few months have been incredibly difficult. Disparities, inequality, xenophobia and racial injustice have been brought to the forefront of our society. Like many of you, NATA is deeply disturbed and angered by the senseless loss of life due to prejudice and racial injustice.

New IC Resource Addresses Detraining

The COVID-19 pandemic left gyms, fitness centers, school athletic facilities and some outdoor recreation areas across the globe closed for months at a time. Only within the past couple of weeks have these places, all where athletes are used to going to maintain physical and athletic capacity, begun to reopen with limited capacity.

NATA, APTA Commit to Greater Collaboration

To promote individual health and well-being and advance population health, NATA and American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) have announced a commitment to greater collaboration in a joint statement released Dec. 19. The statement outlines how both organizations can work together to advance patient care and encourages members of the two organizations as well as stakeholders to do the same.

Help ATs Affected by Hurricanes

The Texas State Athletic Trainers' Association has started a relief fund for athletic trainers in Texas affected by Hurricane Harvey with an initial donation of $1,000. Anyone can donate and contributions are being accepted via check or PayPal. Additionally, ATs in Texas who are in need of assistance can specify their areas of need via a form on the website.

AT Spotlight: Mike Prybicien

When Mike Prybicien’s son, Aiden, was diagnosed as diabetic at the age of 4, Prybicien relied on his background as an athletic trainer to help his family – including wife, Jennifer, and daughter, Abigail – navigate through their new circumstances.
