Revenue models contain information that will help ATs maintain and improve their positions by quantifying their worth to the organization. Revenue models include: Secondary School Value Model, College/University Value Model, Physician Practice Value Model and the Public Safety Value Model.

The Physician Practice Value Model (PPVM) was developed by the Committee on Practice Advancement to educate athletic trainers, administrators and consumers about athletic training services – especially within the physician practice setting. This document is meant to outline the value and worth an athletic trainer in the physician practice can bring to an institution. As the profession of athletic training continues to grow in stature, this value model will be considered a living document, adapting to economic challenges and public perception. This PPVM will serve as a global overview of other more detailed documents.

The Public Safety Value Model is a product of the Public Safety Committee of the NATA Council on Practice Advancement (COPA). This document is intended for athletic trainers (ATs) and public safety agencies alike. The information contained in this document may be utilized to develop an athletic training program and provides best practice recommendations within the public safety setting

Athletic trainers interested in providing services independently or through contracted opportunities should understand their options for collecting payments and how those payments are charged.
