Senior Graphic Designer
The Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for leading the visual development and execution of NATA’s major campaigns, digital presence, and brand identity initiatives. This role combines creative leadership with hands-on design expertise to deliver compelling, on-brand visuals across print, digital, and environmental platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Campaign Strategy & Execution
- Lead the visual development and execution of NATA’s four annual campaigns and one triennial campaign:
- National Athletic Training Month (NATM)
- Convention
- Member Renewal
- Strategic Plan campaigns
- Develop and present multiple creative concepts for leadership review, translating strategic objectives into cohesive visual systems.
- Execute selected campaign concepts across deliverables, including:
- Campaign logos (various formats and applications)
- Campaign-specific style guides
- Print collateral and brochures
- Digital ads and social media assets
- Email signatures and Zoom backgrounds
- Microsites or digital campaign presence
- Onsite signage and environmental graphics
- Ensure all assets are scalable, reusable, and aligned with NATA’s brand standards and channel best practices.
- Design graphics for print, digital, and social media campaigns across the organization.
- Create infographics to communicate complex information clearly and visually.
- Develop templates and visual assets for internal and external communications.
Website Design & Digital Brand Presence
- Own visual design standards for NATA-managed websites (nata.org, convention.nata.org and microsites).
- Design and update web pages to improve aesthetics, usability and functionality.
- Design page layouts, navigation elements and visual systems supporting usability, accessibility and responsive design.
- Optimize user experience through intuitive navigation and responsive design principles.
- Maintain branded page designs and graphics while preserving site integrity.
- Manage visual organization of the NATA Member Resource Library for clarity and ease of use.
- Work closely with IT and web developers to implement approved design solutions and resolve technical constraints.
Brand Identity & Logo Development
- Serve as a steward of NATA’s brand identity across all platforms.
- Maintain and enforce brand guidelines across all channels.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure brand consistency in messaging and visuals.
- Design merchandise graphics for NATAGEAR store.
- Create logos and visual identities for:
- NATA products, member benefits and events
- Approved external collaborations
- Districts and state associations
- Maintain consistency across logo systems while allowing flexibility for sub-brands and campaigns.
Photography, Video & Podcast Production
- Capture and edit photos and videos for events, campaigns and organizational storytelling.
- Produce short-form and long-form video content optimized for multiple platforms.
- Capture, edit and produce podcast episodes.
- Develop promotional assets including graphics, audiograms and video snippets for podcast marketing.
- Coordinate publishing and distribution across podcast platforms and social media channels.
Organization-Wide Graphic Design & Collaboration
- Design branded resources for committees including infographics, toolkits and databases.
- Create on-brand materials for staff needs including ads, fliers, banners and presentations.
- Develop promotional assets for districts and states ensuring national brand alignment.
- Partner with marketing, communications and other departments to support campaigns and initiatives.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and deadlines.
Workflow, Quality Control & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure all deliverables meet brand, accessibility and production standards.
- Identify opportunities to streamline templates, asset libraries and design systems for efficiency.
- Maintain organized digital asset management practices.
- Complete other duties as assigned consistent with senior-level design expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, Marketing or related field.
- 5+ years of professional design experience, preferably in a nonprofit or association setting.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- Strong understanding of branding, typography, layout principles and visual systems.
- Experience with web design, UI/UX principles and CMS platforms.
- Experience in graphic design and digital content creation.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and responsive design best practices.
- Experience in campaign development and integrated marketing.
- Knowledge of print production, vendor coordination and environmental graphics.
- Experience producing photography, video and podcast content for marketing and storytelling purposes.
