Dani Moffit, PhD, LAT, ATC
Bio: 
Dani is an Associate Professor and the Program Director of the MSAT program at Idaho State University. Prior to teaching at the post-secondary level, Dani taught and was an athletic trainer for the Meridian School District in Meridian, Idaho for 10 years. She is the chair of the District 10 LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee, a CAATE Site Visitor, and has been involved with the BOC Exam Committee for nine years. Her current research passions range from perceptions of sexual harassment by athletic training students to cultural education in health professions.

Glenn T. Edgerton, EdD, LAT, ATC
Bio: 
Glenn is an Associate Clinical Professor and serves as the Coordinator of Clinical Education within the MSAT professional program at Northern Arizona University. He has served as a member of the NATA LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee, as the District 7 representative, since June 2018. Glenn has a passion for the equality and anti-discrimination of all people, and he is excited about this project on harassment and bullying within the LGBTQ+ community.
Abstract: 

Research documents that discrimination and harssment directed toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ+) individuals are ongoing and prevalent in the workplaces in the United States. An exploratory study to identify athletic trainer's attitudes and beliefs about bullying and harassment of LGBTQ+ individuals in the workplace will be the impetus for attendees to self-reflect on their own biases and treatment towards those who identify with that population. Professionalism and patient-centered care will be addressed to better understand how athletic trainers can be ally's in their workplace.

At the conclusion of this presentation, the learner will be able to:

Participants will be able to describe LGBTQ+ attitudes by certified athletic trainers.
Participants will be able to describe differences in attitudes based on race/ethnicity, age, and gender identity.
Participants will be able to examine the implications for healthcare according to age, race/ethnicity, and gender identity of the clinician.
Participants will be able to provide examples of patient-centered care for those who identify as LGBTQ+.
Participants will be able to examine ones beliefs of treating LGBTQ+ patients and how they fit into the NATA Code of Ethics, BOC Standards of Practice, and state practice acts.
