NATA Foundation Celebrates Support at NATA 2025

Throughout the 76th NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo, held June 24-27 in Orlando, attendees had opportunities to connect with and support the NATA Research & Education Foundation. 

“This year’s convention was a huge success for the NATA Foundation because it highlighted the strength of our community and the power of our mission,” said NATA Foundation Director Kathryn LaLonde.

Co-Chair Discusses Sports Science

During the Professional Football Athletic Trainers’ Society (PFATS) annual meeting and education program, held before the NFL Combine this March in Indianapolis, NATA Sports Science and Data Analytics Task Force Co-Chair Mark Coberley, MS, ATC, LAT, presented to the group about sports science, how it’s impacting and changing the athletic training profession and NATA’s related initiatives.

2022 Quiz Bowl Teams

The NATA Quiz Bowl returns this year as an in-person event, now with 11 teams competing after the inclusion of the team from District Eleven. You can see the students who will be competing for each district below. Scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on June 30 at the convention, the Quiz Bowl is now in its thirteenth year. More than bragging rights will be on the line as the winning team receives $1,000 toward the school’s athletic training program or club. The second and third place teams will receive $500 and $250 respectively.

Supporting One Another

As we discussed in the previous blog, the way in which we, our colleagues, patients, friends or family metabolize a critical incident may differ not only from incident to incident, but from day to day.

There are many concepts that come into play when supporting someone in need. The key approach is to let go of preconceived ideas and provide space, in your support efforts, without judgment.

Wellness Surveys in Action

In 2019, the NATA Secondary School Athletic Trainers’ Committee released the Wellness Screening Guidelines for the Secondary School Athletic Trainer resource to help assist ATs in creating screening surveys that tracked student athlete mental health. Then, in 2020, Cari Wood, ATC, one of the creators of the guidelines, revamped the wellness survey she distributed to student athletes to include questions pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic.
