Honoring the 2025 National Award Recipients

During the NATA Hall of Fame Induction and National Awards Ceremony June 25 in Orlando, NATA recognized its 2025 national award recipients. As the winners walked the stage with their plaques, they were greeted with handshakes and hugs from NATA President A.J. Duffy III, MS, ATC, PT, and standing ovations from the crowd. Learn more about the 2025 national award recipients on p. 20 of the May/June NATA News. The national award nomination cycle is open through Sept.

Celebrate Youth Sport Specialization Awareness Week

This week is National Youth Sport Specialization Awareness Week. NATA has dedicated the third full week of October to youth sport specialization awareness to help reduce the risk of injury related to sport specialization and keep athletes safe and healthy.

Taking Action in a Suicide Crisis

Athletic trainers impact health care through action before, during and after an injury. What about when the action needed is a silent yet present response? ATs must take action to prevent suicide.

According to the World Health Organization, close to 800,000 people die by suicide every year. As the second leading cause of death among 15 to 29 year olds, there is a growing need for advocacy.

NATA Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Response Plan

On June 3, NATA launched “Listen First,” Phase I of our overall plan in response to the global racial awakening as a result of the murder of George Floyd. Phase I created a virtual safe space for members and leaders to share concerns and feedback on how we can individually and collectively enact change for our Black members and patients.

In July, NATA continued the listening exercise and concurrently begin Phase II of the plan, assessing and organizing information received.
