Editor's note: In honor of Women’s History Month this March, NATA would like to celebrate all women athletic trainers making a difference in the profession and their patients’ lives through a monthlong blog series.

Without support, we fall. It’s that simple. Amanda Donahue, MS, ATC, LAT, hasn’t fallen yet, and she doesn’t plan on letting the performing arts students she works with, or her fellow athletic trainers, fall anytime soon either.

The text within Katie Walsh Flanagan’s Presidential Candidate Q&A should have read, “We have to begin to require that athletic trainers work with a physician as a supervisor, not under a coach, AD or non-medical person.” We sincerely apologize for this error.

Everyone comes from different experiences, backgrounds and cultures, and it is the duty of athletic trainers and all health care providers to be aware of how these differences can affect patient care.

Calling all athletic training students: Are you the competitive type? Do you want to raise awareness for athletic training, but don’t have the funds to do so as a college student? Do you want to raise money for not only your school, but also the NATA Research & Education Foundation? If so, consider participating in the 2019-20 NATA Foundation’s National Athletic Training Student Challenge (NATSC).

NATA President Tory Lindley, MA, ATC, testified before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation Feb. 5 in Washington, D.C., on the topic of “Athletic Safety and the Integrity of U.S. Sport.” Testifying along with Lindley was Ju’Riese Colón, CEO of U.S.

NATA President Tory Lindley, MA, ATC, will testify before the U.S. Senate at 10 a.m. EST/9 a.m. CST Feb. 5 in Washington, D.C., to advocate for increased investment in athlete safety. Lindley has been called as a witness to testify during the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation hearing, “Athlete Safety and the Integrity of U.S. Sport.” The hearing will be livestreamed.
