Retired Requirements

To obtain the Certified-Retired status, a member must:

  • Be a Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing with the BOC and NATA at the time of the request to change membership categories;
  • Have at least 20 years of NATA membership;
  • Inform the BOC in writing that s/he wants to resign his/her credential at:

  • Agree not to use the ATC credential any longer
  • Agree not to practice Athletic Training

With the Certified-Retired membership category members may vote on NATA association matters, receive complimentary membership dues and convention registration however with this status a member does not receive CEUs.

To obtain the Associate Retired status, a member must:

  • Be an athletic trainer in good standing with your State Regulatory Board and the NATA at the time of the request to change membership categories
  • Have at least 20 years of NATA membership
  • Inform State Regulatory Board that s/he wants to resign his/her licensure and forward a copy of letter received confirming resignation to NATA at membership@nata.org
  • Agree not to practice athletic training

With the Associate Retired membership category members receive complimentary membership dues and convention registration however with this status a member does not receive CEUs.
