Abstract:

The first module in this three part series explores Medical Therapeutic Yoga, a holistic, evidence-based approach to rehabilitative healthcare delivery that merges east-west medicine through rehabilitation with traditional medical therapeutic yoga. Module 1 introduces the evidence-based methodology, guidelines to practice and the clinical rationale for this innovative conceptual model.  Clinicians will walk away with useable, practical skills for applying this new therapeutic paradigm. Participants will also learn how to evaluate existing yoga and yoga therapy programs for clinical content and patient safety by exploring current and anticipated future growth trends in yoga and yoga therapy development and regulation in the US and abroad.  This module is intended to provide a model of education designed to improve patient outcomes and ultimately, healthcare delivery in the field of rehabilitation in the United States.
