Bio:

Isaiah Kacyvenski’s diverse background includes playing in the National Football League for 8 years for the Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams and the Oakland Raiders, serving on the Board of Directors of the not-for-profit, Sports Legacy Institute and serving as VP of Investor Relations for Sale Venture Partners.  Isaiah currently runs the Sports Segment at MC10, a cutting-edge conformal electronics company based in Cambridge, MA, where he is responsible for overseeing the development of wearable electronics to optimize athlete performance. Isaiah holds a Cum Laude Pre-Medicine Bachelor degree from Harvard University and graduated from Harvard Business School’s MBA program in May of 2011.

 

Abstract:

One of the most remarkable, recent shifts in athletic training is driven by the integration of technology and data into the athlete experience, using sensors that conform to the body to capture data on key physiological functions. This session will provide an overview of such technologies from an athlete's point of view, with an emphasis on quantitative measurement of key indicators of athletic performance such as force of impact to the head and athlete core hydration.  It will explore how athletic trainers can integrate such performance monitoring technologies into their existing protocols to achieve an ideal balance between performance and safety.

Clinical Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, the learner will be able to:

  • Understand how to use the performance envelope to identify the optimal balance of peak performance and safety.
  • Understand ways to more proactively put an athlete on a pathway to assessment through the use of digital sports sensors
  • The critical role of objective measurement and quality data as an extra set of eyes to flag potential injury and performance issues.
