NATA Selects Ken Knight as Next Chair of Education Council

DALLAS, July 15, 2004 – The board of directors of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), a not-for-profit organization representing 30,000 members of the athletic training profession, has selected Kenneth Knight, PhD, ATC, FACSM, as the next chair of its Education Council, ending a six-month-long search. “Ken is prepared to address the next phase of our educational program,” says Chuck Kimmel, ATC, president of the NATA.

BALTIMORE, June 18 – During its 55th Annual Meeting & Clinical Symposia at the Baltimore Convention Center, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) welcomed R.T. Floyd, EdD, ATC, CSCS, Jeff Stone, MEd, ATC and Matt Webber, MA, ATC, to its Board of Directors. Floyd was elected in May 2004, to represent District Nine, filling in a board vacancy as Chuck Kimmel, ATC, moved into the president’s chair.

NATA issues advance release of position statement on sport-related concussion

In recent years, new scientific research and clinical-based literature have given the athletic training and medical professions a wealth of updated information on the treatment of sport-related concussion. To provide certified athletic trainers (ATCs), physicians, other medical professionals, parents and coaches, with recommendations based on these latest studies, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) issued an advance review of its position statement on sport-related concussion at its 55th Annual Meeting in Baltimore on June 16.
