WASHINGTON, DC - Eve Becker-Doyle, CAE, executive director of National Athletic Trainers' Association Inc. (NATA), Dallas, TX, has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), where she will help shape the agenda and direction of the 85-year-old society moving forward. Becker-Doyle, who will serve a three-year term, was sworn in along with the rest of the ASAE Board of Directors at the ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership Annual Meeting & Exposition in Nashville, TN, August 13-16, 2005.

NATA, NCAA, to Host Summit on Sudden Cardiac Deaths

Dallas, July 29, 2005 – NATA, in conjunction with the NCAA, will host a summit on commotio cordis, a syndrome caused by blunt, non-penetrating chest blows that leads to cardiac arrest and often death. The summit begins at 7:30 a.m. central time, Monday, August 1, 2005, at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis. The summit will assess the prevalence and risk of commotio cordis among student-athletes, as well as its etiology and practical prevention strategies.
