Award Overview
The National Distinction Award is the YPC’s highest honor. The YPC wishes to recognize young professional athletic trainer that has made an immediate and definitive impact on the athletic training profession at the national, district, or state level.
- The nominee embodies the ideas, goals, and mission of NATA and the Young Professionals’ Committee.
- The nominee has demonstrated the highest level of service, professionalism, and competence in their place of work.
- The nominee maintains the highest level of honor, respect, and integrity in their clinical setting and to the community.
- The nominee has demonstrated initiative, leadership, and ability to inspire other professionals where the profession has directly benefited.
Eligibility
Must be a member of NATA and in good standing
Must be a certified member or certified student
Must be considered a Young Professional at time of nomination – 35 year old or younger
An athletic trainer may not win the award twice
If more than one sponsor nominates the same person, the first sponsor to nominate will be taken
Must have a minimum of three years experience and have at least three years membership in NATA.

Completed award application
Three letters of recommendation
- One from nominating sponsor. This sponsor must be an NATA member.
- One from colleague. This sponsor must be an NATA member.
- One from an individual from the workplace. This sponsor is not required to be an NATA member
Deadlines/Procedure
Sponsoring athletic trainer must nominate candidate by Jan. 4.
Application and letters of recommendation must be submitted by Feb. 1, 2010
Award recipient will be notified by the committee chair by March 1, 2010
Selection Process
Winners will be selected by the NATA Young Professionals’ Committee. Athletic trainers submitting nominations will be notified when their submissions are received. Athletic Trainers nominated will be notified of their name being placed into nomination and the outcome of the selection process.
