NATA Hall of Fame Inductee for 1999

Phillip H. Hossler

After receiving his BS from West Chester State College in 1973 and MS from Indiana State University in 1974, Phil began his career in central New Jersey. Recognized for his efforts to advance high school and high school student athletic training, Phil is the author of two textbooks, twenty articles and five copyrights related to athletic training. He holds a United States patent on a first aid splint. A sixteen-year state association officer, twice serving as president, he was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1997. He co-authored New Jersey’s Athletic Training Practice Act and led the way for the creation of the state’s landmark Department of Education certification for high school athletic trainers. He believes all this possible due to the understanding and love of his wife and two sons.
