Joseph J. Godek
Joe Godek is a 1967 graduate of the University of Delaware. He earned his master’s degree at West Chester University and completed additional graduate credits at Temple University and Pennsylvania State University. He returned to the University of Delaware as a faculty member and assistant athletic trainer. In 1970 he became a faculty member and athletic trainer at West Chester University where he taught various athletic training courses as well as kinesiology and adapted physical education and served as the head football athletic trainer for 24 years and as the athletic trainer for men’s basketball for 14 years. In 1992 he was elected as the first chairperson of the department of Sports Medicine at West Chester. He also served as a consultant to the Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee. He is a former president of the Eastern Athletic Trainer’s Association and served two terms on the Board of Directors of the NATA. He was Chairperson of the NATA Finance and Convention committees, as well as the Vice President and Treasurer of the NATA. He has served as an on-site evaluator for the NATA approval and CAAHEP accreditation of athletic training curriculums. He was the Founding Editor of Athletic Therapy Today. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Sport Rehabilitation and as guest reviewer for the Journal of Athletic Training.
