NATA Hall of Fame Inductee for 1999
Ronnie Barnes – educator, scientist, practitioner and businessman. Since graduating in 1974 from East Carolina University, where he is a member the school’s Hall of Fame and has been recognized as an Outstanding Alumnus (1998). Barnes has served in many leadership roles and received many honors and accolades: NATA Professional Athletic Trainer of the Year twice; member of the NATA Board of Certification for ten years; NATA Distinguished Athletic Trainer; Tim Kerin Award for Excellence in Athletic Training; President of Michigan Athletic Training Society; President of NATA Research and Education Foundation and President of the Professional Football Athletic Trainers’ Society. He worked as an athletic trainer for East Carolina University, Michigan State University and since 1980 as the Head Athletic Trainer for two-time World Champion New York Giants of the NFL. His civic contributions to the NFL and NATA are extensive. He has published in academic journals and textbooks and is a founder of a 50 clinic physical therapy chain and a national and international lecturer.
