Gordon Stoddard

 

Gordon Stoddard's career in athletic training began in 1964 as a graduate assistant at Kent State University. He received his BS in Physical Education from Rocky Mountain College in 1958, and a master's degree from Kent State in 1965. From 1965 until 1969, Mr. Stoddard served as Head Athletic Trainer at Central Michigan University. While at CMU, he authorized the Athletic Training curriculum and taught introductory and advanced courses. In 1969 Mr. Stoddard joined the University of Wisconsin/Madison as Head Athletic Trainer, a position he held until 1986. In addition to his athletic training duties, he created the curriculum for "Professional Preparation of Athletic Trainers" at the university. Among the impressive list of awards and achievements received by Mr. Stoddard is the NATA "Outstanding Achievement Award", awarded in 1982, and the Wisconsin High School Football Coaches' "Distinguished Service Award", in 1983. In 1989 he was inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Trainers' Hall of Fame and received the NATA's prestigious 25-Year Award. Mr. Stoddard has spoken or served as a clinician at more than 50 seminars, conferences and clinics during his career and written or reviewed approximately 25 technical articles about sports medicine and athletic training.
