Government Affairs Associate

We are seeking an organized administrative professional with at least five years of admin experience in an office environment to help support our government affairs department and take on some project management for some of our initiatives. Must be proficient with Microsoft office (candidates will be tested). The ideal candidate will be able to multi-task, feel comfortable asking questions, and must be very detailed in their work. Must have a high school diploma. Experience working in an association, non-profit, and/or a government background is a plus!
 

Basic Responsibilities:

  • Handles correspondence for department
  • Responds to fielding and handling general phone and email inquiries directed to department in a timely manner
  • Conducts Internet research to compile lists, data and other information as directed
  • Provides back-up support to receptionist as directed by human resources
  • Maintain various department/project spreadsheets and membership lists
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Keep YSSA web sites and social media current including submitting content to enhance interaction and usability
  • Assist with the administration of the Safe Sports Schools Award
  • Make grassroots support telephone calls and contacts, as requested
  • Assist in Capitol Hill Day by scheduling appointments, sending confirmation letters, promotion of event, producing handouts and packets, other support activities
  • Produce reports for grassroots initiatives using the CapWiz database, and other government affairs software packages
  • Update Knowlegis database with federal contact and meeting information
  • Maintain weekly NATAPAC dues contribution reports and receipts. Coordinate transfer of funds with accounting department. Update all contributions via payroll deduction and dues in PACBuilder system
  • Coordinate logistics and materials for NCSL convention, including application, payment, booth space, shipping and supplies
  • Supports Government Affairs Department in NATA Convention planning
  • Coordinate the administration of several department initiatives/programs including but not limited to MBTI and StarTRACKS
  • Other duties as assigned
