PURPOSE
Boston University and Sacred Heart University challenge all athletic training student groups to compete in raising money for the NATA Research & Education Foundation. The purposes of this challenge are to generate funds supporting research that lead to the best practice of athletic training, and to expose athletic training students to the world of research and the value of supporting research.

WHAT
All athletic training student groups at individual institutions are invited to compete. Initial contact will be made with program directors, who will issue the challenge to their respective student leaders. Student groups will then organize and implement fund-raising campaigns during the academic year. The money raised from this initiative will go to the unrestricted accounts of the NATA Foundation.

RULES
1. Any group representing students enrolled in an athletic training education program is eligible to participate.
2. Each group must conduct fund-raising operating within the rules established by its sponsoring institution.
3. Groups must compete and submit a non-binding "Intent to Participate Form" by December 31, 2008. The sooner you submit, the sooner you may begin raising funds!
4. Donations to the NATA Foundation on behalf of an institution's entry for the challenge may be submitted multiple times during the challenge period from October 20, 2008 to April 10, 2009. A "Donation Submission Form" must accompany each group of contributions/checks mailed to the NATA Foundation.
5. Any "Donation Submission Form" received at the NATA Foundation offices after April 10, 2009 will not be
counted toward the 2008-2009 BŪ / SHŪ Challenge, but may be counted for the next year's competition.
6. Winners will be notified by April 30, 2009.

  • In the event of a tie, a random drawing will be used to determine the institution that will receive the free registrations. All winning institutions will be recognized in appropriate ceremonies and publications.

7. Participating groups will be recognized at the NATA Annual Meeting & Clinical Symposia in accordance with the following levels:

  • Winner: Commemorative Plaque and 4 Complimentary Registrations for student members of the NATA to the next NATA Annual Meeting & Clinical Symposia.
  • $2,500 in Contributions: Commemorative Plaque
  • $1,000 in Contributions: Certificate of Merit

By submitting this non-binding "Intent to Participate Form", we verify that we have read, understand, and agree to the purpose and rules of the BŪ / SHŪ Challenge to support the NATA Research and Education Foundation.
