2011 Capitol Hill Day
Nearly 400 athletic trainers and students went to Washington, D.C. in February to participate in Capitol Hill Day. A Congressional recess led to a more relaxed, interactive atmosphere. The group lobbied for measures that would promote athlete safety, increase patient access to Medicare, encourage physical activity and enhance the profession of athletic training.

In the Words of Your Advocates. . .
“Capitol Hill Day is the apex of NATA’s legislative efforts. No one is better equipped to advocate for athletic training than athletic trainers. It is vitally important to our legislative efforts that our legislators recognize that athletic trainers are engaged in the legislative process and are willing to take action.”

“This was my fourth year coming to Capitol Hill Day, and I feel like we chip away at it a little more every year. It’s about gaining traction and making progress.”

“A lot of people don’t understand the full scope of who we are and what we do. . . [Capitol Hill Day] is about building those relationships, the repetitive nature of meeting us and hearing from us more than once.”
