TECHNOLOGY PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP
“Utilizing Web 2.0 Technology in the Curriculum”

 

Friday, February 20, 2009 – Washington, DC

 

A call for abstracts is being issued for the Technology Pre-Conference Workshop to be held February 20, 2009.  This pre-conference will precede the seventh Athletic Training Educators’ Conference.  The pre-conference workshop will feature five (5) case study presentations (20-25 minute presentation) that demonstrate effective utilization of various technologies that have been implemented within the athletic training curriculum that serve to address the needs of the millennial athletic training student.  The 2009 pre-conference workshop theme is “Utilizing Web 2.0 Technology in the Curriculum”.

 

Call for Abstracts (Oral Interactive Presentations)

 

Submitting Abstract: 

Abstracts for the technology case study presentations should address one of the following areas:

1.        Web 2.0 Technology tools to improve communication with ACI's and/or student learning (e.g., “blogging”; social networking; discussion boards; pod-casting; mass email messaging systems; text-messaging; web-casts; etc.)

2.        Using Web 2.0 Technologies to document ACI training and/or policy compliance (such as video-based scenarios; online testing; etc.)

3.        Utilizing Web 2.0 technology to document clinical outcomes within an education program.

 

Individuals interested in sharing original research and or other scholarly works related to technology utilization in the clinical setting, and other areas related to the pre-conference theme, are encouraged to complete the online “Call for Abstracts” form which can be accessed at the following website:

Individuals may submit only one abstract for oral presentation as primary (presenting) author for this technology workshop, but may submit unlimited abstracts as a secondary author. All abstracts will undergo blind review.

 

Selection Criteria: Abstracts will first undergo a mechanical review for format and adherence to the submission guidelines.  The submission guidelines are included on the submission form.  Abstracts that do not follow the guidelines will be returned without review.  After the mechanical review, all abstracts will be reviewed for applicability, content, and potential benefit to conference attendees. 

 

The deadline for submission is 3:00pm on October 10, 2008.
Notifications will be sent via email by no later than
October 20, 2008.
