Editor, Athletic Training Education Journal

The Athletic Training Education Journal (ATEJ) editor position becomes available in June 2013. The term of appointment is 2 years and can be renewed once, for a total of 4 years of service. Electronic applications are being accepted.  Click here to see a detailed job description

Position Description
The editor of the ATEJ is responsible for all steps of the publication process, including soliciting manuscripts; ensuring a fair, courteous, and objective peer-review process; making final publication decisions; communicating with authors; and reviewing and approving final manuscripts for publication. The ATEJ is now housed in the NATA publications office, which also houses the Journal of Athletic Training.

Required Qualifications

  • A record of publication in scholarly journals with an emphasis on athletic training education
  • Experience in serving on editorial board(s) and/or as a journal editor
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • An excellent knowledge base in education and a broad and balanced perspective of the field
  • A record of meeting deadlines
  • Computer skills and access to the Internet
  • Demonstrated leadership ability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience making publication decisions
  • Familiarity with manuscript production processes
  • Experience building consensus and a developing thematic projects

  • Description of qualifications and rationale for interest in the position
  • The role of the ATEJ in promoting education of health care professionals
  • Vision statement for the ATEJ in the coming five years and how you would work to accomplish that vision
  • Primary challenges facing the ATEJ and how those should be addressed
