Preparing a Useful Manuscript Review

This session will describe the peer-review process, the role of peer reviewers, and practical hints on how to conduct a peer review. The logistics of specifically conducting a peer review for the Journal of Athletic Training will be discussed in detail. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions during the session.




Utilizing Web 2.0 Technology in the Curriculum

This pre-conference workshop will feature five (5) case study presentations (20-25 minute presentation) that demonstrate effective utilization of various technologies that have been implemented within the athletic training curriculum that serve to address the needs of the millennial athletic training student.

Strategies for Millennial Students and Candidates: 
Beyond Multiple Choice Examinations

Much attention has been directed to the millennial generation and the differences they present in the workforce and educational setting; their impatience with things non-technical and their constant skepticism of authority. How do you assesslearning in the millennial generation? How can we best prepare this cohort fortesting given their different learning style? What impact does this have onpreparing them for the BOC exam – a high-stakes assessment of entry-levelcompetence?


This workshop will discuss new evaluation tools available to assist educators in moving from traditional assessments models to new and alternative models. Participants are encouraged to share their assessment strategies in this interactive workshop.




Evidence-Based Concepts for Clinical Practice Education: 
A Study Investigating the Effectiveness of a Single-Day Workshop


This workshop will encompass components that must be taught within entry level athletic training education programs in order for students to be able to differentiate between available diagnostic tests, and the utilization of these components to improve treatment outcomes through exposure to clinical prediction rules and systematic review information.  The workshop will also entail discussion on implementation strategies that educators can utilize to incorporate this information into existing curricula.
