Robert Gunn
1967 - 1968, 1970 - 1974
From his first job as assistant athletic trainer at Rice Institute in 1947, Robert Gunn has gone on to become one of the most experienced athletic trainers in the field. During his career, Gunn has been the head athletic trainer of the Washington Redskins and Houston Oilers professional football teams and has served at the Pan American Games and for the U.S. Soccer Team. A respected lecturer and author, Gunn was head athletic trainer at Lamar University for several years before graduating to the professional athletic training ranks. Gunn served on the NATA's board of directors from 1965 to 1969, as chair from 1967 to 1969. Gunn was the first president of the NATA, elected in 1970. He served in this capacity until 1974. Bobby, as he is known to his friends, was inducted into the NATA Hall of Fame in 1975.
