NATA Presidents

Frank George
1974 - 1978
| Frank George graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1962 and in 1963 received his physical therapy certification from Boston University. After a 3-year term in the Army, George became the Head Athletic Trainer at Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island, where he is currently employed. The most notable of George's numerous positions within the NATA was the four-year term as President, from 1974 - 1978, which earned him the Distinguished Service Award. The preceding two years had been spent as Vice President of the NATA. George was also given the Service Award in 1988 in recognition of his outstanding work during his five-year term as Chairman of the Grants and Scholarship Committee. George was the Supervisor of Athletic Trainers at the Lake Placid Winter Olympics in 1980 and served as athletic trainer for Olympic Organizing Committee for the 1976 Winter Olympics in Austria. Much closer to home, George was instrumental in winning a five-year struggle to bring licensure to athletic trainers in Rhode Island. Frank was inducted into the NATA Hall of Fame in 1991. |
