NATA Committees, Councils and Project Teams
NATA’s various committees, councils and project teams have many purposes, but they all share a common goal: to help carry out the work of National Athletic Trainers’ Association of the NATA Board of Directors.
Each committee, council and project team has an NATA member as a leader or chair. These individuals work with committee, council and project team members and NATA staff liaisons to accomplish goals.
Clinical & Emerging Practices Athletic Trainers’ Committee
Purpose
The mission of CEPAT is to develop and promote new areas for athletic training employment and address employment issues, such as working conditions, for athletic trainers in existing settings. The committee will support staff in research as it relates to job development and improvement as well as serve as a liaison to athletic training educators in order to translate changes in professional education standards and emerging employment issues.
College/University Athletic Trainers’ Committee
PurposeTo identify and address issues of concern to athletic trainers in the college and university setting and to develop programs and activities to enhance the effectiveness of college/university athletic trainers.
Convention Program Committee
Purpose
Oversee the planning and implementation of the NATA Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposia.
Council on Revenue
Purpose
To pursue third party reimbursement for athletic training services.
District Secretaries/Treasurers Committee
Purpose
Assist NATA and the districts by exchanging information about membership procedures, common needs and goals, and related matters.
Executive Committee for Education
Purpose
The Executive Committee for Education serves as the NATA’s voice in matters related to athletic training education. The council is specifically responsible for facilitating continuous quality improvement in entry-level, graduate and continuing athletic training education. It coordinates the delivery of educational programming for the profession of athletic training. The council accomplishes its purposes both by developing innovative educational programs and by encouraging and facilitating a close working relationship between all the entities involved in athletic training education.
Ethics Council
Purpose
Ensure that the NATA Code of Ethics and the Membership Standards, Eligibility Requirements, and Membership Sanctions and Procedures are enforced.
Ethnic Diversity Advisory Committee
Purpose
Identify and address issues relevant to American Indian/Alaskan Natives, Asian/Pacific Islanders, Black, non-Hispanic and Hispanic members. Additionally, address health care concerns affecting physically active individuals in these ethnic groups. Advocate sensitivity and understanding toward ethnic and cultural diversity throughout the profession and the association.
Federal Legislative Project Team
PurposeThe Federal Legislative Workgroup oversees the federal legislative efforts of the NATA. They also set the Association’s advocacy agenda, which outlines and prioritizes the legislative goals and objectives of NATA.
Finance Committee
Purpose
Oversee and review Association financial matters and investment program.
Governmental Affairs Committee
Purpose
Oversee the Association’s governmental relations and regulatory efforts.
Honors and Awards Committee
Purpose
Oversee and administer the Association’s Honors and Awards program.
International Council
Purpose Address concerns of members who are living, working or stationed outside the continental United States. Review, recommend and execute programs, policies and alliances that affect international members and regular certified members living outside of the United States.
Journal Council
Purpose
To oversee the operations of the Journal of Athletic Training.
National Athletic Training Students’ Committee
PurposeThe National Athletic Training Students’ Committee provides a voice for students within the athletic training community. The NATSC promotes learning about issues impacting the athletic training profession, getting involved in volunteer opportunities, and taking a stand on matters impacting students in the present and future. The NATSC offers information, encouragement and advice, and also plans and implements quality educational and networking opportunities at NATA’s annual meeting.
National Legal Review Group
Purpose
The NATA National Legal Review Program is a system of reviewing, prioritizing and funding legal issues that impact the profession of athletic training on a national basis. The goal of this program is to protect and advance the profession of athletic training through the legal system.
Outcomes Advisory Panel
PurposeThe focus of the Outcomes Advisory Panel is to support the marketing and legislative efforts of the NATA by providing professional expertise to evaluate research and propose outcomes research development and implementation.
Post Professional Education Review Committee
Purpose
Review post-certification graduate education programs.
Pronouncements Committee
Purpose
To develop and/or review position statements, pronouncements and other documents on behalf of NATA.
Public Relations Committee
Purpose
Provide input and direction to NATA’s public relations program.
Secondary School Athletic Trainers’ Committee
Purpose
To address those employment issues impacting athletic trainers related to existing and
emerging employment markets thru a coordinated effort with internal and external entities.
Vision Quest
GOAL OF THE VISION QUEST (revised January 2010)
The goal of the Vision Quest process is to create an aligned vision and set of goals for the athletic training profession that will be implemented by 2010 via the coordination of individual strategic activities undertaken by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), Board of Certification Inc. (BOC), Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and NATA Research and Education Foundation.
Young Professionals Committee
To identify and address the interests, needs and concerns of young athletic training professionals and to facilitate communication to and from members of that group.
