Chuck Kimmel

NATA President Chuck Kimmel, MA, LAT, ATC, is the assistant athletics director/head athletic trainer at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, a dual role he has held since 1990.
Kimmel earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky and his master’s degree from East Tennessee State University. Prior to becoming the head athletic trainer at APSU in 1981, he was an assistant athletic trainer at ETSU.
He has served as a professional leader in many capacities, including terms as secretary-treasurer and as director of the NATA’s District Nine (a region including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee). In addition, he is a past chair of the NATA Finance Committee.
Throughout his career, Kimmel has been honored for his achievements. In 2002, he received the NATA’s prestigious Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award and was inducted into the Tennessee Athletic Trainers’ Society Hall of Fame. In 1997, he earned an NATA Athletic Trainer Service Award for contributions to the profession, and he also has been recognized at the local and district levels.
Kimmel and his wife, Patty, have three children: Chad, Meredith and Adam.
